Knaan is the best new school artist to come around in a long time and this was the first song that hooked me. I met Knaan at the Smile Jamaica Africa Unite concert in 2008 and we had a nice long conversation about the effects of US media on the rest of the world. I told him I was alarmed at how influential hardcore rap had influenced ghetto youth in Jamaica and he told me about the same feelings he had about his home in Somalia. It was a pretty cool experience now looking back when at the time I had no idea how talented he really was and how bright his future was going to be.

Knaan is hardcore and one of my favorire new school artists. His flavor of hardcore hip hop has a genuine flavor and hits like Smile and I was Stabbed by Satan are as hardcore as life can get.

I remember Ice T and Kool Moe D, Afrika Bambata and all the rest but Sugarhill and Rappers Delight was the first to hit nationwide and is one of the most influential of the first rap and hip hop songs.
