The Gulf Oil Spill is by far the most horrible environmental disaster I could ever imagine. Having spent almost my entire life in South Florida and the Caribbean I am bonded to the oceans of our world in a way I can barely explain. Some of my earliest memories from childhood are of my days swimming the warm waters of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico anywhere from the beaches of Key West to the coastline of Florida and often many miles offshore in a boat.

My years in Ocala are the furthest I have ever lived from the ocean and I am but 30 to 40 minutes from Daytona Beach if the rivers and lakes around here are not enough to satisfy my need to be around water. To be honest I can’t imagine life without the ocean and the idea we may have now lost the entire Gulf of Mexico and most likely portions of the Caribbean as well has been the most sickening news of my existence. I don’t think that all of the wars since my birth and the devastation they brought to us in a combined effect would be the same as the loss of so much in the Gulf.

For the millions of human lives lost in wars I have far less pain and anguish than I do for the countless millions of marine animals lost in the Gulf Oil Spill at the hand of British Petroleum or BP as they are known. When we humans pick up arms and kill each other it is sick but self inflicted but when we humans kill nature and destroy so much wildlife is is far sicker. There is no amount of money that can replace what has been lost to all of us already in this oil spill and the potential loss of life is absolutely staggering when you consider this hole in the ground is still spewing unknown amounts of deadly poisons into the ocean and it could continue to do so for months.

Mark my words this is not over and sadly I feel it has only just begun. Even if they plugged the hole today where do you think all of this oil will end up? Do you suppose they will be able to clean it up or is it but a matter of time before it breaks up and floats all over the world? Everyone from Florida to Texas is worried about their coastline because they can see the oil on the horizon but in my opinion countries as far as Cuba and even Jamaica should be making plans for how to deal with the oil spill clean up because it is inevitable that it will reach these poorer less developed nations that lack clean up technology and equipment.

If Jamaica thinks things are bad now wait for the day when the white sands of Negril are covered in black tar balls and you will then see what real economic destruction is. The entire Caribbean relies on the crystal clear waters and clean sandy beaches and when this pollution reaches the shores of these countries where do you think tourists will go? The Bahamas will most likely be safe for quite some time but inevitably they too will have tar balls from the Gulf Oil Spill. There is no way around it, this oil spill clean up will absolutely never clean up all of the oil and it will gunk up the beaches of the South East United States, Mexico, the entire Caribbean and part of Central and South America as well.

Dead birds, fish and marine mammals have begun to was ashore and the death toll looks to be far worse than anyone of us could imagine. When Exxon Valdez struck the one saving grace was the total volume of oil was capped at the ships capacity but the Gulf Oil Spill knows no boundaries and could potentially spew for as long as 90 days in total. The wildlife in Alaska suffered greatly but there was an end in sight and although the loss of life was incredible they were able to save a large number of animals. It seems this time around the animals are showing up dead and there have been far fewer rescues at this point. Alaska is a sensitive region and the loss of any life is sad but the fragile nature of the coastal wetlands and their vital importance to the seafood chain is what makes this such a more devastating disaster. The Wall Street Journal law blog wrote about the rights of animals affected by the Gulf Oil Spill and basically the poor lowly creatures have no rights and there is no retribution legally for humans who commit crimes against nature.

British Petroleum has been lying about the total amount of oil spilled and continues to try to protect themselves and their shareholders to the point that they have angered the White House. What exactly that means is a unknown but apparently the government is now upset over what has happened. With the cozy relationship the oil companies have with government officials we all know that no one will actually get in trouble over this and at worst it will cost a few billion in lost profits which they can easily make up next year.

The only way we can make them pay is to Boycott BP Oil and ban them from offshore drilling in America. These people are obviously not capable of managing their offshore operations and their total lack of planning and preparation has been much of the problem. I have made a personal commitment to not only Boycott BP but I will also make a concerted effort to cut back on our fuel consumption in any way possible. As American we all share some responsibility for this disaster with our insatiable appetite for oil and petroleum products. I pulled into a BP gas station a few days back and realized I don’t want to spend my money with those people and the thought actually crossed my mind to pickup a can of oil from the rack nearby and spill it out on the floor of their retail store. What could they do? Arrest me for spilling a quart of oil?

They found water on the moon but people right here on earth can’t get clean water to drink or enough food to eat. I’m sitting here watching CNN and they jut had a story about NASA finding water on the moon. They claim it only cost 79 million dollars to slam a device into the face of the Moon which they can test all the way back here on earth that tells them there is water on the Moon and they think it was a pretty good deal for the price. The idea being that if we had to carry less stuff from Earth we can possibly travel farther into space using resources like water and other minerals found on the Moon. No, they are not planning to bottle moon water. At least not yet they aren’t.

As soon as the story was over they cut to commercial and the last spot before they cut back to news is for their new program CNN Heroes and the hero spotlighted was a woman who runs Project Clean Water in Africa which obviously deals with the lack of clean drinking water that plagues so many people in the world. I love irony and I found myself laughing out loud at how ridiculous it was they had these stories so close together. I wonder what the lady from Project Clean Water would do with $79,000,000?

In America my mother has free water service in her Florida home that allows us to use as much as we want whenever we want but in Haiti they drink water that is contaminated by garbage and pollution. In China it has gotten to be so bad that people in the most populous nation on Earth are getting cancer and disease from the contaminants dumped in their drinking water sources and once again children are suffering the most. Young Chinese children work in the electronics reclaim industry processing heavy metals and industrial waste that often ends up in the drinking water.

On one hand if you work for NASA or any of the billionaire contractors they pay with our tax dollars you might argue it was money well spent. You might even ask your friends over at CNN to do a cute news story that shines a positive light on NASA or maybe you’ll win an award from the NY Times for the Aries rocket that boosts your image and makes Americans feel better about the billions we spend on space travel each year.

On the other hand if you live in Africa, Haiti, China or any other place on Earth where you have a hard time finding clean drinking water you may think spending 79 million just to find out if there is water on the Moon is a waste. You might also disagree with spending so much in outer space when we have so many problems right here on Earth.

My questions to you is, what do you think? Should we bother with travel to the Moon when people on Earth can’t get enough food and water?

I came across this article this morning and of course the title caught my attention. When I started reading I had no idea I was about to experience the absolute best argument ever made for the legalization of marijuana that I have ever seen.

It’s a straight forward no bullshit assessment of our current economic condition and a viable solution to California’s budget crisis. The time is now to embrace the decriminalization of marijuana and move past the “War on Drugs”. Have we not had enough war in this lifetime? Smoke a fricking joint and relax for the sake of our economy

Smoke This Recession / It’s simple: First we tax the booze. Then we legalize the pot. Done.

Really now, could there be a better time to decriminalize/fully legalize pot? Or, more fully, to decriminalize pot, and then spread respectable pot shops and vending machines and dispensaries far and wide, instill quality control and decent oversight and then tax the living hell out of the glorious, stress-reducing goodness, as we stop wasting billions fighting its grand ubiquity and instead sink into profitable pools of warm, hazy progress? Don’t you already know the answer?

I feel as though I was born in the perfect year and since my birth in 1970 I have been witness to some historical events but none of them are even worth mentioning when you consider what I saw happen over the past 24 hours or even the past 24 weeks for that matter.

When Barack Obama was given the Democratic nomination I was not shocked. I was upset because I honestly did not believe America was ready to elect a Black man to the White house and I did think we needed change that no Republican would provide. I have never been so happy to have been proven wrong. Maybe the day has come when fewer of us see color and more of us see through the skin to the person inside.

Barack Obama is a polarizing, transformational figure with the weight of a planet on his shoulders. He made a lot of promises and lots of people want to see him fail but the fact is we have a new leader and he’s not a rich white man. An educated black man will run America and the next four years should prove to be far more interesting than the last four have been.

Good luck to Barack Hussein Obama. Let’s hope we get at least half of what he offered.

For those of us who know nothing about the next Vice President here is a page with some pretty disgusting details into this womans life.

She’s a perfect fit for the Grand Olde Party boys and possibly the first female President in history. The hunting thing is not the worse she could do but its certainly not humane or sporty to hunt habituated animals who are accustomed to being viewed by humans and not shot by them.

I think the fact she’s so in bed with the oil industry and that she has already been accused of abusing her power are the scariest things we have to worry about. We have already been the victims of power hungry abusive leaders and what are we about to get?

Same shit on a different shit ticket!!

The Feds arrested a blogger who posted some songs from the soon to be released new album by Axl Rose and his newly formed Guns and Roses band. It is my opinion that the real crime commited was by Axl Rose for fucking up the baddest band in the history of music.

I think Axl should be arrested for putting out crap like this new Chinese Demoicracy album and calling it a Guns and Roses album. He should be ashamed at the very least if not put behind bars for wrecking one of the best groups in rock and roll and then taking 15 years to spit out a useless album of such garbage.

Yes, I have heard the album. I was able to download the zip file on Rapidshare and I have the songs on my Zune. It’s shit and Axl probably had the kid arrested just so no one would hear this thing. I think he named it Chinese Democracy because he knows that just like this album will ever have a chance at success neither will Democracy in China.

Now this poor kid faces the Federales for posting some crap mp3 files on his blog because the music industry feels they will lose millions of our hard earned bucks on this steaming pile of crizap. I think they realize the album is junk and they want to make a big stink out of this kids actions so they can blame it on him when the album finally is released and it bombs like democracy in China did.

Maybe we should help the guy out and click some ads on his blog or something?

Feds arrest man accused of posting unreleased Guns N’ Roses songs* | Technology | Los Angeles Times

How he got his hands on the goods, we don’t yet know. But today, police visited the home of a Culver City man and arrested him on suspicion of violating federal copyright law by posting nine previously unreleased Guns N’ Roses songs on a website, Scott Glover reports in this L.A. Times story.

In June, the nine songs, from the band’s upcoming album “Chinese Democracy,” ended up on the website Antiquiet, which drew the attention of the feds. The site received so much traffic that it crashed.

This is the best idea for a law that I have seen in years. I think it was about 5 years ago I got into quite a heated debate about being American from a flag waving idiot who thought it was a crime for me to burn a flag and question our involvement in the Iraqi war crimes. That argument was won in my opinion when it was pointed out that the flag was “Made in China” and this nut thought it was illegal for “commies” to make the American flag.

It’s not illegal to sell this country out but it should be and this law makes me feel good. The Chinese are poisoning us and have been for years. They have unleashed untold health hazards on us and we might just deserve it for selling this country and our precious jobs out to a billion china men. The Chinese don’t give a fuck for our flag or us and it should be illegal for them to sell us our own flag but the real crime is the American that never bothered to ask if his flag was “Made in America”.

Laws Require Flags to Be Born in USA – TIME

What’s red, white and blue — and made in China? A move is on in state legislatures to ensure that the flags folks will be flying and buying this Independence Day were made on this fruited plain.

Minnesota has passed the strongest measure, a new law that goes into effect at year’s end requiring every Old Glory sold in state stores to be domestically produced. Violations are a misdemeanor, punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail. In Arizona, schools and public colleges were required starting July 1 to outfit every classroom from junior high up with a made-in-the-USA flag. Tennessee requires all U.S. flags bought via state contract to be made here, and similar bills are moving forward in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

The Fourth of July is considered peak season for flag sales with millions of them lining parade routes and flying above back yard barbecues. Most of the major domestic flag makers are privately held companies that don’t release their sales figures, so it’s difficult to gauge the inroads being made by foreign manufacturers.

The U.S. Census bureau estimates that $5.3 million worth of U.S. flags were imported from other countries in 2006, mostly from China. That figure has been steady over the past few years. The big exception was in 2001 when $51.7 million in U.S. flags were brought into the country, most on the heels of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Sandy Van Leiu, chairman of the Flag Manufacturers Association of America, said the imports are cause for concern even though U.S. companies still dominate the flag market. “That door is going to keep opening,” said Van Leiu, a sixth-generation executive at the family owned Annin & Co., a 160-year-old business that supplies retailers like Wal-Mart. “It starts small, then it gets big. You’re just opening Pandora’s box.” To help consumers identify the origin of their flags, the association created a certification program two years ago that bestows a seal-of-approval logo to flags made with domestic fibers and labor.

Whether Minnesota’s law violates international trade agreements — and whether anything would be done about it — is an open question. Under World Trade Organization standards, the U.S. government can’t treat foreign products less favorably than those produced within its boundaries, said Peter Morici, a business professor at the University of Maryland and the former chief economist for the U.S. International Trade Commission. How the rules apply to states is debatable, he said.

Morici said a foreign business harmed by the law would have to get its government to take action against the U.S. government. Robert Litan, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution think tank, said while the likelihood of Minnesota’s law sparking a dispute is slim, the symbolic message is hard to miss. “It’s symptomatic of an anti-foreign bias moving through the country right now. It would not surprise me if other states copied it,” Litan said. “It’s hard to oppose politically.”

When the bill was debated this spring, some legislators argued it sent the wrong message to close Minnesota’s borders to foreign-produced flags. “That flag should be made throughout the world because it is our message to the world that there is hope for freedom and justice,” Republican Rep. Dan Severson said at the time.

The law’s sponsor, Democratic Rep. Tom Rukavina, said the flag deserves extra protection. To celebrate his legislative victory, he plans to hand out 1,000 miniature flags at Fourth of July parades in his district. “The biggest honor that you can give the flag is that it be made by American workers in the United States of America,” he said. “Nothing is more embarrassing to me than a plastic flag made in China. This replica of freedom we so respect should be made in this country.”

The new law doesn’t spell out a penalty for violators. In Minnesota, the default punishment for prohibited acts is a misdemeanor offense, carrying up to a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail.

Welcome to the new and improved AlfredMoya.com blog using the latest version of WordPress. My name is Alfred Moya III and I am proud to be state Citizen of the Republic of the United States of America and duty bound to defend our Constitution. This is my first post on this blog using my favorite blogging tool. I can Edit or delete it, then start blogging! I’m going to edit it and use this asz the base for new things on my new site. I have integrated a new Gallery and Forum for discussing all of my mad ideas and insightful knowledge.

Some of you will wonder why I added the old crap from the old blog and thew hard times I faced this past year with the idiots in my life but I think its important to remain honest and thats what I felt then and little has changed since.

Why the new site and major downtime? I got popped for some bullshit I didn’t do but in the end I was advised to accept a plea because it was the shortest and fastest way to achieve my goals of traveling abroad for an extended time frame. I have accepted a 4 year probation sentence for one second degree felony charge of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm with special conditions. I am allowed to move to another country and my probation becomes administrative and upon achieving residency in another country I can then apply to have it dropped. It’s not going to be easy for me to do so but my goal is to gain residency in Jamaica by some time next year and end this crap before long.

It sucks I had to take the deal and get scarred with yet another felony but redneck justice prevails here in Ocala and I was pretty much fucked from the get go. No matter what happened if my cracker ass neighbor said the nigger next door did something then that nigger did it and thats that. Considering what I risked if I lost at trial it was a no brainer to take this deal and run with it. I’ll be on probation again and under supervision of DOC but it’s on me for how long and I can get this done pretty quick if I chose to.

This gives me something to do with my trip to Jamaica besides puffing and what not so I’m excited about that one.
